Your Story, Your Iris, Your 1920s Adventure

It’s 2026.

One moment, you’re here. The next, everything changes. The sounds are different. The clothes are different. The streets, the music, the people around you — all suddenly belong to another time.

You’ve been transported back to 24 October 1922.

You don’t know how it happened, and you don’t know how long it will last. All you know is that Iris is by your side — and you have just 24 hours before you’re brought back to the present.So what do you do with them?

Do you disappear into a candlelit jazz club and listen to music that will shape generations to come? Spend the evening dancing beneath the chandeliers of a grand ballroom? Find yourself surrounded by the artists, designers and personalities who defined the decade? Or leave the crowds behind and experience an ordinary day in a world more than a century removed from your own?

Perhaps there’s someone from the era you’ve always wanted to meet. Somewhere you’ve always wondered what it looked like before the modern world changed it. A conversation you’d want to have, a moment you’d want to witness, or simply a night you’d never want to forget.

You only have 24 hours, Where would you go?, Who would you meet?, And who would you bring along for the adventure?

To enter, head to our Iris: Back to the 1920s competition post on Instagram and share your own adventure with us.

There are three things your entry must include:

🠊 Your 1920's story — tell us where you would go, what you would do, who you would meet, or what kind of adventure you would have.

🠊 Iris — the Iris bag must feature somewhere within your story.

🠊 Your travelling companions — tag 1–3 people you would want to bring with you.

It’s your story. Your Iris. Your 1920's.

Maybe you want to meet a famous designer, artist, musician or writer. Maybe you’d spend the night dancing in a grand ballroom, discover a hidden speakeasy, witness a moment in history, or create something completely fantastical and unexpected.

We want to see is where your imagination takes you. Once you’ve shared your entry and tagged your travelling companions, you’re in.

The winner will be chosen at random from all valid entries.

We imagined what would happen if the three of us at Beara Beara suddenly found ourselves in 1922, with Iris along for the journey..

Anna — A Dance with Madeleine

Anna opens her eyes beneath the glow of a grand ballroom chandelier.

Music fills the room. Dresses sweep across the dance floor, glasses clink in the distance, and before she has time to understand how she got there, she finds herself dancing alongside Madeleine Vionnet, one of the designers who helped redefine fashion through movement, proportion and form.

With the Ivory Iris resting over her shoulder, Anna spends her 24 hours surrounded by the silhouettes, fabrics and ideas that would go on to influence generations of fashion.

For one night, she isn't looking back at fashion history.

She's dancing right through it.

Jake — A Drink with Gloria Swanson

Jake's 24 hours begin somewhere considerably more relaxing.

He finds himself at the bar of a bustling 1920s speakeasy, drink in hand, Iris resting nearby, when he realises the woman beside him is none other than silent-film star Gloria Swanson.

So he does the only sensible thing: orders another drink.

Between the music, conversation and chaos of the evening, Jake gets a glimpse into the glamour of early Hollywood from someone living at the centre of it.

No emails. No meetings. No deadlines.

Just one drink in 1922 that turns into a story he'd probably never stop telling.

Stuart — One Night in the Band

Stuart doesn't arrive quietly. One moment he's in 2026. The next, he's sitting at a piano in the middle of a packed 1920s jazz club — and apparently he's part of the band.

Beside him is Ethel Waters, one of the defining performers of the era, while musicians play around him and the room moves to the sound of the night.

With Iris resting beside the piano, there isn't much time to question how any of this happened. So he plays. For 24 hours, Stuart gets to experience the music of the decade not from an old recording or history book, but from right in the middle of it.

And when the clock finally brings him back to 2026, at least he can say he once played a set in 1922.
